Your August Adventure Starts at Founders‘

August is packed at Founders’ Food Hall & Market. From free live music twice a day to waterfront festivals, family activities, workshops, and tastings, there’s something happening almost every day. Whether you’re looking for things to do in Charlottetown with the family, planning a date night, or simply searching for the best waterfront events in PEI, here’s your complete guide to everything happening this month.

Sounds of the Waterfront: Your New Daily Habit

Every single day this month, Sounds of the Waterfront presented by Dairy Famers of PEI turns the patio into a stage. Lunch sets run 12–2pm, evening sets run 5–7pm, and the lineup rotates almost every day—think local singer-songwriters, duos, and full bands, rain or shine.

A few days come with a bonus: August 11, the Dairy Farmers of PEI are handing out free white and chocolate milk from 12–2pm, no strings attached.

Grab a plate from one of our vendors, find a patio seat, and let the afternoon do its thing.

Sunday Fundays: Bread and Wine

Two Sundays this month are built for slowing down and learning something new, both presented by Cork Dork Catering.

On August 9, join a Bread Baking Intensive from 12:00–3:30pm, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of fermentation, shaping, proofing, hydration, preferments, and the differences between manual and machine mixing. Fresh bread and butter are included for snacking, and all ages are welcome.

Then, on August 16, enjoy a guided Fall Wine Tasting from 12:00–4:00pm, featuring Barolo, Shiraz, and Grenache paired with delicious seasonal recipes. This is a 19+ ticketed event.

Acadian Festival: August 15

Wear your blue, white, red, and yellow because the Acadian Festival takes over Founders’ Food Hall & Market from 1–6:30pm.

Enjoy live performances by Le Diable à Cinq, Les Faux Pas (featuring Nathalie Arseneault, Christina Gallant with Kaelin Wedge, and Les Deux Sœurs), and students from École La-Belle-Cloche.

Families can enjoy face painting, inflatable bouncy castles, and a juggler before everyone joins the lively Tintamarre—the traditional Acadian noise-making parade beginning at 5:55pm.

Closing Out the Month

On August 29, bring your family and friends for Family-Friendly Trivia, running from 5–6:30pm. It’s free to play and a fun way to wrap up a summer evening.

Then, on August 31, Sounds of the Waterfront closes out another incredible month of music with performances by Claude Bergeron and Christopher Hawley on the waterfront patio.

However, you like to spend a summer afternoon—grabbing lunch while listening to live music, sampling local wines, celebrating at a festival, or watching your child build a puppet—there’s a reason to visit Founders’ Food Hall & Market almost every day this August.
